I invite you to join the Manchester Geographical Society

The Society’s main aim is to encourage geographical study and knowledge at all levels; this is done in five main ways:-

  1. The Society organises a series of 20 lectures on Tuesdays in the Friends’ Meeting House from October to March; most are held at 1 pm, and cover a wide range of topics and areas.
  2. The Society helps support the three higher education geography departments in Manchester and Salford.
  3. The Society supports research by paying the fees of one part-time research student in one of the three Manchester or Salford Geography Departments. It further supports research by funding individual staff in the departments.
  4. The Society publishes the results of original work (mostly on the north-west) in its journal The North West Geographer.
  5. The Society’s library of books and atlases is available to members. It contains many rare items, plus numerous travel and topographical books.

For the current year, membership of the Society costs £ 17
